I am often asked whether I use oils or acrylics. The answer is both (that's why I always write "Acrylic and Oil Paintings by Lena Karpinsky". I also use various mediums and additives to achieve the deep texture, to blend colors and so on...

Please do not ask me about specific brands of acrylic or oil paint. I use everything they sell in the art stores. Each type and each brand has pros and cons - for a specific use.

This is a commissioned artwork that I did in the beginning of 2010 for a private home in Florida. It's based on my original "Dancing" painting. The new height is 48". Original was 36". In the new version, the figures of Saxophone player, Dancer and the Contrabass player kept their shapes, but appear more "smooth", because the palette knife strokes were the same size - on a larger canvases.

A custom painting based on one of my past works, "Cold Winds Of The North".
The new artwork is larger than the original. I used 3 canvases 24" x 36" each, making total of 72"x36".
